Artworks are first available for purchase by sponsors and dignitaries before being available in person at the Exhibition in Brisbane. Unsold artworks can also be purchased online following the event.
"This work is a fusion of gothic imagery and religious symbolism, representing darkness meeting light. This artwork, like many of my pieces, was created spontaneously in pencil on paper. The idea for the poem came to me afterwards and was written directly onto the finished illustration without editing or censorship."
Liam Cunnington is a 45-year-old artist from Ipswich. He has had a strong interest in art, literature and spirituality from a young age. At age 18, an art teacher encouraged Liam to develop his own unique style of artistic expression, which incorporates elements of his dreams, life experiences and is inspired by the subconscious.
Liam has composed thousands of original poems and created hundreds of detailed drawings and paintings throughout his life. Art has been a therapeutic tool which has assisted Liam in managing his mental illness, providing an outlet for his creativity and allowing him to feel a sense of achievement even during the dark periods of his life.
