"I wanted to portray a juxtaposition of growth and development at the cost of nature; the city persists whilst forests are being destroyed. Working as an ecologist, I experienced inner conflict at our consumer-driven society. The way we live our lives can be far removed from our natural environment.

The mirrored image of the city/forest demonstrates the depth of this issue. Development impacts nature and long-standing habitat, with the full impact quite often not known for many years."

Danielle Hodgson is an avid nature lover with a degree in ecology and a passion for creating art that captures nature's energy and beauty. Her work is a celebration of the colours and textures found in the world around her.

Danielle enjoys breaking through anxiety and accessing a creative flow, by taking organic shapes and pushing them into abstract compositions.

Danielle aims to inspire others with her artwork, sharing stories of her life’s journey with schizophrenia.
