"It’s a rare thing for something to encourage a smile on impulse, as does the Tawny Frogmouth on first sight. The Tawny embodies fun, nature and creativity. The sweep of line and ink splats add emotion and movement to the piece; falling in love with what surrounds us and inspires us.
This illustration was inspired by some of the birds that have been rehabilitated in my area by a local wildlife carer. This piece was created with old-school dipping pen and ink."
Working as a portraitist for Walt Disney has shaped Danielle B Latta's skills and style. She is recognised for her distinctive work through Running Duck Studio.
In 2012, Danielle's partner was involved in a motorbike accident causing neck, spine and brain damage. Being an integral part of their ongoing support and recovery has helped Danielle understand the depths of hidden struggles and pain. She has found a lack of visible injuries often cause unsympathetic reactions.
Danielle's journey is shown throughout drawings, subconsciously expressing her own struggle.
Her artwork has become more light-hearted and uplifting, illustrating the small but special moments that can be found in everybody's lives. This has been an almost involuntary reaction to bring balance to life once again.
