Larry Stumer first developed an interest in photography in his early 20s. This largely came about as a way of dealing with a two-year battle to overcome depression.

Larry moved to Sydney and studied filmmaking at The Australian Film, Television, and Radio School, after which he spent his time travelling and working.

In 1992, Larry had a life-changing accident which left him a paraplegic. Larry's life seemed to be on hold for the next 23 years as he learnt to simply deal with usual day-to-day living.

One day, Larry decided to buy a digital camera and computer to restore his old negative images. A period of self-learning and experimentation then transpired.
Since that time, Larry has been asked to exhibit pieces of artwork at local events, including his first solo exhibition.

Larry's work is frequently described as being on the dark side. Larry doesn't deliberately set out for it to be that way, however, he embraces difference in artistic expression.

Lastly, and most importantly, Larry enjoys doing what he does.

"As cities around the world shut down and millions of people lost their jobs, a new way to breathe was recommended in order to function. Hygiene and separation from one another became part of the new order. City pollution improved and nature thrived in the absence of human influence. However, mutant versions of the new virus would bring more sickness and death to the populations. What do we need to survive?"
