Cate Bond is a predominantly self-taught artist with a background in physiotherapy, fitness, experiential and creative arts therapy and music.

Following Cate's sister's suicide after a seven-year struggle with Bipolar Disorder, Cate turned to art to cope with her profound grief. Later, after a severe spinal cord injury, art helped Cate deal with unrelenting, chronic pain.

In 2004, Cate was diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder. Since this time, Cate has used art for self-expression, helping during her recovery journey.

"Music expresses feelings and emotions more powerfully than is possible with verbal communication. On hearing music it can evoke an emotional response from the listener. Music has always been an integral part of my life, having played the piano and cello and being involved in an orchestra for many years."
