"A washed, dripped, loose background is layered with leaves and flowers in the foreground. Imbued with a pop of purple, the line work on top of the organic forms adds a sense of 'busy'.
The scale of this work exposes the physical action and investment of time as a commitment to the process. This work was made with the intention to create peace in the eye of the viewer, as if they are staring into a live garden."
Honouring the creative impulse, Chanté Ranclaud’s practice centres around paintings of geometric, organic, painterly and detailed forms. She works in the present moment, painting freely and being open to the serendipitous happening.
Painting allows Chanté to lose and rediscover herself. Creating is a place she can be whoever she wants and most of all, remember who she is. Chanté believes the creative process is an extension of her identity and provides therapeutic benefits. Through art, Chanté has gained a deep sense of personal understanding which has been instrumental in facilitating change. When she paints, Chanté feels a sense of vivacity. She highly encourages creative outlets to aid trauma.
