John Fu Chong grew up in Malaysia before moving to Singapore to study fine art.
He then went on to study interior design at West Surrey College of Art in the United Kingdom, before working in Singapore and Brunei as an artist and designer.
John immigrated to Australia in 1981 where worked as an artist, chef and designer.
Strongly influenced by French impressionists such as Monet, Van Gogh, Bonnard, Gaugin and Matisse, John's work encompasses landscapes, nature and still life - achieved through a range of materials and media, including acrylics, pencil and watercolour.
"I have had such a wonderful, exhilarating experience in majestic Queensland, the natural landscape in Australia where I belong and call home. This painting is a reminder and reflection of the essence of stillness and serenity in the face of calamities."
