"Upon commencing this piece, my former lover, The Duck, and I were extremely close friends - or so I thought. I chose colours The Duck had expressed appreciation for, with the intent being to gift him the piece as a thank you for his friendship and support during one of the darkest times of my life. Plot twist: He was a lying sociopath who never cared about me. I hope this piece doesn't sell so I can burn it to the ground."

Zes Yof is a multidisciplinary artist and musician born in Naarm, now residing in Meanjin after years travelling the globe. Zes exudes a triumphant appreciation for our bittersweet individual human experiences in every piece she creates, by utilising concepts from the Japanese art form Kintsugi - the art of repairing broken ceramics with gold or silver.

Rather than disposing of a broken item, Kintsugi converts once perceived flaws by making them the most beautiful part of the repaired bowl, plate or vase.

Zes identifies as a gender fluid person, but call her any pronouns, they don't mind! Zes experiences anxiety, depression, complex PTSD and is neurodivergent. She embodies a message of loving-kindness and compassion to all who cross her path.
