Artworks are first available to purchase in person at the exhibition held from 4-10 Oct at King George Square.

Donna Hawkins is a visual artist known for her imaginative and vibrant work. She works intuitively and loves detail. Her work encompasses all genres, both representational and abstract.
Having won multiple awards with Redcliffe Art Society, last year she won People’s Choice in the Moreton Bay Region Art Prize and was a finalist in the Brisbane Portrait Prize with a portrait of her mother.
Despite facing a daily battle with chronic illness, constant pain and fatigue, Donna can still find joy when she is creating. She has had depression and anxiety for as long as she can remember; so, she is grateful for the psychotherapy and medication that enables her to function. Art has been her life saver.

This painting was inspired by Pink Floyd's song 'Breathe'. The lonely figure on the beach imagines being able to rise above their reality, to dance on the wind without a care in the world. Then they imagine shapeshifting into a bird, a seagull looking down upon the shore. It reminds me of breathing in the beautiful fresh air at the beach.
