Artworks are first available for purchase by sponsors and dignitaries before being available in person at the Exhibition in Brisbane. Unsold artworks can also be purchased online following the event.
"I created this artwork as a reminder of my teen years living on Heron Island, where I started my working life. My father also lived and worked there, and after initially visiting him on weekends and school holidays, I moved there when I was 15. I made a connection with the ocean and ocean life that I still hold dear today."
Four years ago, Katharina Schwarz had a major breakdown and tried to take her life. On that day, she made a promise to never do it again; she would find a way to heal. Art was part of her recovery.
Having never painted before, Katharina found a place of peace that took her away from everything else going on. She has enjoyed her journey with art immensely.
Katharina has tried different mediums, with acrylic and watercolours her favourite. Painting places that are special to her, Katharina says art saved her life.
