Artworks are first available for purchase by sponsors and dignitaries before being available in person at the Exhibition in Brisbane. Unsold artworks can also be purchased online following the event.
"I have a great interest in Greek mythology, which I have explored in this piece. Hermes was considered a cunning, mysterious and compelling character. As messenger of the gods, Hermes worked to maintain order among the realms and manage the multitude of challenging and fraught relationships. Hermes famously wore winged sandals so he could fly between the heavens, earth and the underworld."
Matt Whittemore is living proof that people with schizophrenia go on to achieve great things in life. Currently studying a Bachelor of Design, Matt has spent time as a tattoo artist and recently exhibited internationally.
Having experienced a psychotic episode almost every year since he was 18, Matt’s mental health journey has been long and rocky. Art is now a part of the puzzle that keeps Matt on track – alongside regular medication, music, a solid sleep regime and a strong support network.
Matt was Artist in Residence at last year’s Recovered Futures Art Exhibition, captivating visitors with his impressive realistic portraiture skills.
