Laurie Mutze is a 63 year old man living in a supported accommodation service on the Sunshine Coast. Laurie has been diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia and mild intellectual disability.
With the introduction of the NDIS, Laurie has been able to pursue his love of art and spread his creative wings. Laurie loves working with all mediums and has no favourites. Initially his art has been dark and moody, but with staff guidance his subjects are evolving.
Laurie has mostly been a quiet man who keeps to himself, but by expressing himself through his art, he is opening up more to staff and peers.
"I was guided through this piece with my art therapist by talking about my past and emotions. The colours were inspired by pictures in a magazine."
