Abbie's paintings are highly intuitive and inspired by how the world makes her feel, not so much how she sees it. When both her parents died within a few years of each other, Abbie returned to painting as a way to process the grief and anxiety associated with such a life changing loss.
Her choice to use raw canvas with acrylic paint creates dreamy watercolour scenes. While she mainly uses acrylics, her mark making tools include charcoal and pencils, and she prefers to use her hands and non-traditional tools for painting like brooms and paintbrushes taped to long sticks.

Come Away With Me, is part of a collection of paintings inspired by smooth jazz tunes; the kind you fill up a glass of whiskey to and sink into a leather couch to listen to.
This song - by Norah Jones - seems to always pop into my jazz playlist, even though it's not what I would typically call jazz, but the chill vibe makes me want to sink into the leather armchair just the same.
